Introducing Poppy's Norfolk in their own words - Hollie Ikins, Founder and Creative Director
Poppys Norfolk was started during the first lockdown as a hobby, something to pass the time during some extremely hard months at home, prior to COVID-19 I owned a successful Beauty Salon and Training School in Norwich, when Covid hit in 2020 we were forced to close our salon doors for 200 days of that year.
I ordered a wax melt kit on Amazon and literally ‘had a go’. We shared our very first creation on our Facebook and well the response was unexpected. So many people were asking if they could buy them!
After the realisation that although 2021 was a new year, our salon was still unable to open, I decided to create a website and Instagram page and told my husband I was going to start a home fragrance business. His words were ‘You’ll never make any money doing that’ and that was even more of a reason to prove him wrong. We opened our website on the 17th of January 2021 and sold out straight away, we now have over 15k followers on Instagram, we are followed by celebrities, we’ve sent products worldwide, USA, Germany, France, Qatar, Switzerland, Cyprus and many more! We even supply wholesale to countries throughout the globe too! We have sold over ten thousand items to website customers since the beginning of 2021 and we have had the opportunity to work with a number of large businesses such a Gnaw Chocolate, The Range, Dunelm and Roy's Department Store who now sell our products in stores all over Norfolk too. We are also the supplier to Ferry Homely who is owned by celebrity Chloe Ferry from Geordie Shore and have sent out parcels to presenters, actors and footballers wives. We have been featured in a number of news articles and have even made it in to both Vanilla and Close-Up Magazine.
The best part is that I can now say to my husband… ‘I told you I could do it’.
